Der Barfüßer ist die Hausbrauerei im Keller der Nürnberger Mauthalle. Dieses traditionsreiche Gebäude im Zentrum von Nürnberg wurde in der Zeit von 1498 bis 1502 erbaut. Ursprüngliche Bezeichnung war das „Kornhaus bei St. Claren“ und diente bis 1572 nur der Lagerung von Getreide, Salz und Wein. Nach Einrichtung des Zollhauses trug das Haus ab dann den Namen „Maut“. Nach einer wechselreichen Geschichte, der fas völligen Zerstörung im 2.Weltkrieg wurde die Mauthalle Anfang der 90er Jahre völlig saniert. Sie ist heute ein modernes Geschäftszentrum und beherbergt im Keller den „Barfüßer“.
